Prof. P.Satishchandra is Senior Consultant in Neurology & Advisor, Apollo Institute of Neurosciences , Bangalore ,Karnataka, from November 2017 and Hon. Professor of University of Liverpool, U.K. from 2014 till date

He was Professor of Neurology, NIMHANS, Bangalore, India between 2000 and 2017 and Director and Vice Chancellor of NIMHANS,( Institute of National Importance’) ,Bangalore, from June, 2010 to- Jan. 2016)

Prof. P.Satishchandra obtained several Fellowships from FIAN (1998); FAMS (2003) ; FRCP (London) 2013 ; FKSTA (2020) and many : “Distinguished Academician” for the exemplary services in academics for the year 2019 by Apollo Group of Hospitals ( Feb, 2020), “Ambassador For Epilepsy” Award – 2017’ by International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) & International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) during 32nd International Epilepsy Congress (Barcelona September, 2017), Sir. M.Visvesvarya Senior Scientist State Award for the year 2016 for life time contribution to the development of Science & Techonology in Karnataka, Karnataka Rajyothsava ; A State award in recognition of the contribution to the State in the field of Medicine 2014, Basanthi Devi Amir Chand ICMR Award for Bio,Medical Scientist (2013), Asia Oceanian Outstanding Achievement Award in Epilepsy’ from CAOA, International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE) at Melbourne, Australia, 2010, Sir C.V. Raman young scientist award by Karnataka State Govt. for research in Epilepsy in 1998, and ICMR award for Neurology (Research in Epilepsy) in 1998. He was President of Indian Academy of Neurology’ (IAN) in 2011-12; President of Indian Epilepsy Society (IES) between 2014 and 2016; President of Karnataka Neurosciences Academy (KNA) and he is President (Elect )of Indian Epilepsy Association (IEA) since 2021. Prof. P.Satishchandra was also Chairman of IBE, South Eastern Asian regional executive board, Co Chair of 12th AOEC, Bali, Indonesia in June 2018 ; Member of ILAE Genetics Commission between 2015 and 18) and Scientific member of 13th AOEC, Japan 2020. Prof. P.Satishchandra published 313 papers including 52 book chapters and Eight Monograms.His Research interests are Epilepsy : Hot water Epilepsy, Genetics of Epilepsy , Progressive Myoclonic Epilepsy, Demyelinating Disorders and Neuro Infection including Neuro AIDS.
