Dr. Ajay Kumar is currently Chairman & HOD of BLK – MAX Institute of Digestive and Liver Diseases, Chairman Pan Max – Gastroenterology & Hepatology, New Delhi. He is Past President of Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) and Society of GI endoscopy of India (SGEI). He has been in clinical practice in his chosen field in city of Delhi for almost 35 years. Starting from MCKR Hospital, then for long 17 years at Indraprastha. Apollo Hospital. Then he moved on to leadership role and set up Fortis Escorts Liver and Digestive Institute and lately at BLK Max Digestive and Liver Institute. His key area of interest has been Therapeutic Endoscopy and has received received many National and International Honors. To name a few are prestigious Dr BC Roy award by President of India in year 2008, International service award by American Society of GI Endoscopy(2018), Balakrishnan clinical excellence award by Indian Society of GI endoscopy(2021), Master of Endoscopy by Society of GI endoscopy of India (2022). He has published more than sixty papers & chapters in International and National journals and textbooks, made a significant contribution to the research in corrosive esophageal strictures, nomenclature of gastric varices, endoscopic management of biliary complications in post live related liver transplant patients. He has been in Editorial board of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy – the official journal of American Society of GI Endoscopy, Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (Asian journal), Journal of Digestive Endoscopy and International advisory board “Gastroenterology”, official journal of American Gastroenterology Association.
